๐ Leadership Quote of the Week
Read by: Adlai Mahler
Great leaders aren’t always the loudest people in the room. Sometimes, the best leaders are the ones working quietly in the background, helping others grow, succeed, and believe in themselves.
The ancient philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “A leader is best known when people barely know he exists… when his work is done, they will say: We did it ourselves.” This means that true leadership isn’t about getting attention or credit. It’s about helping others become strong enough to succeed on their own.
Think about a great coach, teacher, or friend. They don’t do the work for you—they encourage you, guide you, and support you. In the end, you score the goal, you solve the problem, and you accomplish the challenge. That’s what makes the victory feel real.
In middle school, leadership can look simple but powerful:
- Helping a classmate understand something they’re struggling with
- Encouraging your team when things get tough
- Including someone who feels left out
- Setting a good example through your actions
When you lead this way, people don’t feel controlled—they feel empowered. They grow more confident, more capable, and more willing to help others too.
So remember: leadership isn’t about being in front of everyone. Sometimes the strongest leaders are the ones who lift others up so well that, in the end, everyone proudly says:
“We did it ourselves.”

Student Kindness Challenge of the Week
This week’s kindness challenge is all about being a leader by helping others—without being asked.
Leaders notice when someone could use a hand and step up to help. That might mean picking up supplies for a teacher, helping a classmate understand an assignment, holding the door open, or assisting a staff member with something small.
These small actions can make a big difference in someone’s day. When you choose to help others, you show responsibility, kindness, and leadership.
So this week, look around and ask yourself: How can I help?
Remember—leaders don’t wait to be asked. They see a need and take action.

Let’s make our school a kinder place today by helping someone out!
